
ANZUP (The Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group Ltd) was launched in Sydney after and amalgamation of the Australian and New Zealand Germ cell Trials Group ( ANZGCTG) and Australian Prostate and Urogenital Cancer Group ( APUG). ANZUP is a cooperative and multi-disciplinary organisation with both Auatralian and international collaborations.
ANZUP was formed to meet a need for greater collaboration within the Australian medical community on research and clinical trials, particularly for urogenital cancers (prostate, testicular, kidney and bladder) abd to fine better ways to treat cancer in order to improve patient outcomes, particularly life expectancy and quality of life. The network aims to bring together the professionals and organisations that conduct and support cancer research.
Associate Professor Ian Davis, a medical oncologist at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and Austin Health in Melbourne recognised the need for increased collaboration and began work to form a national network for integrated and multi-disciplinary clinical trials. The network aims also to bring together the professionals and organisations that conduct and support cancer research.
ANZUP currently has 125 members from Australia and New Zealand, ranging from medical and radiation oncologists, urologic surgeons, molecular biologists, clinical trial coordinators, consumer advocates, registered nurses, scientists, allied health and other professionals.
